How to Order Personalized Art

Thank you for choosing Five Acres Woodworks & Design for your custom wood art. To help us create the most beautiful, accurate piece possible, please read through the guidance below before placing your order.

1. Choosing & Submitting Your Photos

Your photo is the foundation of your piece. Clear, high-quality images give us the best chance of capturing an accurate likeness.

  • Use a high-resolution image : avoid screenshots or heavily filtered photos.
  • Lighting matters : well-lit, natural light photos produce the sharpest results. Avoid dark, shadowy, or backlit images.
  • Choose a clear subject : the face or focal point should be unobstructed. Avoid sunglasses, hats, or other items that obscure features.
  • Front-facing or slight angle :  straight-on or a gentle 3/4 angle works best for portraits.
  • One subject per photo : if ordering a multi-subject piece, please submit one clear photo per subject.
  • Submit your photo(s) through the upload field at checkout or email them to us at recob.april@gmail.com with your order number.

2. Dimensions & Sizing

Each piece is available in the following sizes:

  • [Size Option 1] 8" x 10"
  • [Size Option 2] 11" x 14"
  • [Size Option 3] 16" x 20"
  • [Size Option 4] 20" x 24" 

Select your preferred size at checkout. If you have a custom size request, please contact us before ordering.

*Please note: some seasonal or "specialty" designs have different sizes than the ones listed above.

3. Natural Wood Variation

Each piece is crafted from real wood, which means no two pieces are exactly alike. You can expect:

  • Grain variation — wood grain patterns differ from piece to piece and add to the unique character of your art.
  • Tone variation — slight differences in color and warmth are natural and not considered defects.
  • Knots or natural marks — occasional knots or natural wood features may appear and are part of the beauty of the material.

We select quality boards for each order, but these natural characteristics cannot be entirely controlled or predicted.

5. Personalization Details — Names & Dates

Many of our pieces can be personalized with names, dates, or short messages. Please provide:

  • Exact spelling of names as you'd like them to appear.
  • Date format preference — e.g., MM/DD/YYYY or written out ("June 12, 2024").
  • Any short message or phrase to be included (character limits may apply/we'll confirm at order).

Enter these details in the personalization field at checkout. If you forget, you can also email us with your order number.

6. Proof & Revision Process

We want you to love your piece before it's made. Here's how our review process works:

  1. Digital proof — we'll send you a digital mockup of personalized designs via email before production begins. 
  2. Revision round(s) — you may request 3 revisions at no charge. Additional revisions may be subject to a fee
  3. Approval — once you approve the proof, we'll proceed to initial production and finishing. Changes cannot be made after approval.
  4. No response — if we don't receive a response within 3 business days, we'll proceed with the approved design on file.

7. Turnaround Time

  • Production time: 2-3 business days after proof approval. Standard production time for personalized items is 5-7 business days.
  • Rush orders: Available for an additional fee. Contact us before ordering to confirm availability.
  • Shipping time: Varies by destination. You'll receive a tracking number once your order ships.
  • Holiday periods: Production times may be extended during peak seasons. Check our homepage for any current notices.
